I beg leave respectfully to represent to Your Excellency that I have repeatedly requested the proper officials of this Colony, both verbally and by letter, to have John Madison, the Carpenter of the American Barque "Reindeer", who with 100 others was forcibly and illegally taken from that vessel on the 21st instant, returned, but without success; and I now, as the Representative of the United States at this Port, respectfully, but earnestly, request Your Excellency to have John Madison placed on board the "Reindeer", whence he was taken,
